of Spatial Conception and Design
Your Responsibilities:
The University Professorship for Spatial Conception and Design is to represent the denomination across the entire spectrum of teaching and research.
In the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, the scope of teaching is expected to cover compulsory and elective modules for spatial conception and design as well as design studios and thesis projects. Research activities in the field of spatial conception are expected, as well as a particular commitment to national and international cooperation and interdisciplinary projects within the Faculty of Education · Architecture · Arts. An active and constructive participation in the university's self-administrative bodies is mandatory.
The research focus of the professorship should be on the theory-related contexts of space, spatial principles and spatial production as prerequisites for architectural design work and to apply these in teaching. The professorship pursues a critical spatial practice that examines temporary and transformative spaces, situational and multi-talented spaces as well as power relations and appropriation strategies. The spatial effect and expression of interior, open and urban spaces and their relations to each other are assessed and discussed.
Your profile:
• You fulfill the legal requirements for employment (§ 36 HG NRW). Information on this and further details at service.uni-siegen.de/professur.
• You are a qualified designing architect
• You have extensive experience in analyzing complex building assignments in their functional, cultural and artistic dimensions, both typologically and phenomenologically, and in solving them with newly developed, climate-adapted spatial strategies and structures.
• You have sound knowledge and experience in spatial conception and design applying analog and digital design tools.
• Research activities and experience in raising external funding are desired.
• Intercultural skills are desired.
