The School of Economic Disciplines (Faculty III) at the University of Siegen is seeking to appoint a
University Professor (W2)
in Digital Health Analytics
as soon as possible.
Efficient digital healthcare provision is a key challenge for policymakers, society, and the economy. Especially in rural areas and in the context of the increasing shift toward outpatient care, new models of healthcare delivery supported by digital technologies are required. Today, patients expect both greater autonomy and stronger integration into the treatment process. At the same time, personalized medicine presents challenges. Data-driven methods from the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Analytics are regarded as key technologies in this context. Their success depends not only on expertise and application in decision-making processes, but also on acceptance by those affected, for example, in the use of bots in diagnostics and healthcare delivery.
Your responsibilities:
You will conduct research and teaching with a quantitative focus within the Health Management & Analytics profile area of the Faculty. You will collaborate with other profile areas of the Faculty (e.g., Human-Technology Interaction) as well as with other faculties. You will actively support the development of the newly established Center for Interdisciplinary Health Research . Your internationally visible research will focus on the development of decision support systems using methods from Operations Research and Analytics and will build on your experience in healthcare applications. You will actively contribute to the acquisition and implementation of high-level individual and collaborative research projects.
The professorship will strengthen the Health Management & Analytics profile area and is affiliated with the Department of Business Administration. Teaching responsibilities include contributing to the Bachelor's program in Business Administration, the Master's program in Business & Health Analytics, and other programs offered by the Faculty. The teaching load amounts to 9 semester hours per week (SWS).
Your profile:
- You meet the legal requirements for appointment pursuant to Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG NRW). Further information and additional notes can be found at: https://www.uni-siegen.de/start/karriere/voraussetzungen_prof/
- You represent a quantitative orientation in relevant fields of business and economics applications within Health Management & Analytics. You possess extensive expertise in mathematical modeling and programming with applications in healthcare.
- You conduct research at an internationally outstanding level, demonstrated by publications in top-tier journals, and are active in several—preferably as many as possible—of the following fields: Operations Research/Management Science, Health Management, Computing, Information Systems, and Analytics.
- You have initial experience in successfully acquiring third-party funding (e.g., DFG, BMFTR, EU Horizon).
- You have already collaborated in interdisciplinary projects with health scientists, medical researchers, mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, or economists/business scholars.
- You are capable of and willing to teach (digital) courses in both German and English using innovative digital elements. Evidence of pedagogical aptitude is desirable and should be provided.
- You have been engaged in academic self-governance and are willing to continue contributing in this area.
