We seek:

In the Faculty V: School of Life Sciences, Biochemie, we are looking for a researcher  as of the nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt  at the following conditions:

  • 65% = 25,89 hours  
  • Pay grade 13  TV-L
  • limited  bis 31.03.2026

Your tasks:

  • Will be carried out in the Uetrecht group at the CSSB and European XFEL in the Hamburg area within the framework of the Röntgen-Angström-Project SAXFELS with Uppsala University
  • Adaption of the MS SPIDOC project for SAXS experiments
  • Use of the MS SPIDOC system and close collaboration with Uppsala University to find good candidates for protein orientation
  • Assemble and test newly developed parts
  • Performing experiments at facilities such as FLASH, PETRA III, European XFEL and MAX IV.
  • Data analysis of diffracted photons in collaboration with Uppsala University
  • Use/development of a laser setup to determine protein alignment in the laboratory
  • Writing of scientific publications, grant proposals and applications for beam time

Your profile:

  • Master's or equivalent degree in natural or life sciences or engineering
  • Independent research interest and professional competence in the field of mass spectrometry or X-ray sciences
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, very good communication skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following fields: spectroscopy, vacuum components, X-ray physics, biochemistry, ion handling (traps, guides, lenses), imaging (scattering, diffraction)
